Places to visitScotland are easy find if you plan your trip in advance. You may want to start your holiday in scotland in the centeral area of
Glasgow. Check out Bellahouston Park which welcomed Pope John Paul in the early 1980’s and now hosts a variety of events including the recent
Coldplay concert. Just a few miles away you could visit the Tall Ship at Glasgow harbour which is ideal for a family day out as one child gains
free entry with every paying adult.
Other places to visit in the West of Scotland
Just down the road from Glasgow ( 7 miles ) is the large town of Paisley where the famous “ Paisley Pattern “ was formed. You may also want to
visit Elderslie , the birthplace of William Wallace who was famously featured in the oscar winning film “ Braveheart “ . You could also head down
the coast to the seaside towns of Ayr, Largs and Saltcoats. There is a good beach at Ayr and you could always visit the birthplace of the famous
Scottish poet, Rabbie Burns. Also make sure you have a day at the Races at Ayr racecourse where you will enjoy horse racing such as the Scottish
grand National event. You can also visit the isle of Arran on the ferry for a day and enjoy a game of golf.
Only a 30 minute drive from Glasgow you will find Loch Lomond which now has the Loch Lomond shores visitor attraction with a variety of shops.
One of the best golf courses in Scotland can also be found here, the exclusive Loch Lomond Golf Club. This area is also ideal for walking tours
as you can walk the west highland way or simply enjoy a stroll along the woodland scenery.
If you want to head further up West you can visit the Capital of North Argyll, Oban. A busy ferry and port terminal, Oban offers a good selection
of tourist attractions and you can also hop on a ferry to visit scenic islands such as Mull. In summary you will be able to spend a few weeks
visiting the many attractions throughout the West of Scotland and remember to pack warm clothing if you are traveling in Winter !
